April 24 (Commodities Control): The groundnut market has experienced a notable uptick, primarily attributed to a surge in demand for seeds coupled with sluggish export activities. Today witnessed a substantial influx of groundnut arrivals in the state, further buoyed by robust demand for seeds, consequently leading to an upward adjustment in prices by Rs 5-10 per 20 kg.
Market analysts posit that the onset of new groundnut arrivals has commenced in Maharashtra, with fresh supplies anticipated to materialize in the Vyara-Surat region of Gujarat within the upcoming week. Consequently, trading activities concerning new arrivals are poised to initiate at a gradual pace. Anticipated commencement of new arrivals in Saurashtra is forecasted around the second week of May.
Today, Gondal Mandi received approximately 17,659 sacks (1 sack = 35 kg) of groundnuts. Prices for average quality ranged between Rs 1,211-1,281, while the superior quality commanded prices in the range of Rs 1,221-1,366 per 20 kg.
Simultaneously, the Rajkot market witnessed the arrival of 18,000 bags today. Average quality groundnuts were priced between Rs 1,120-1,257, with the best quality variants commanding prices ranging from Rs 1,130-1,340 per 20 kg. Notably, Saurashtra observed an influx of approximately 40,000 bags of peanuts today.
