Mumbai, 03 Apr (Commoditiescontrol): In an ambitious move to augment India's self-reliance in oilseed production, The Solvent Extractors' Association of India, in collaboration with Solidaridad, has launched the Mustard Model Farm Project. This initiative aims to significantly boost Rapeseed/Mustard production across the nation.
The project was unveiled in a recent press conference, where key figures like Shri Ajay Jhunjhunwala, President of the Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA), and Shri Vijay Data, Chairman of the SEA Rape/ Mustard Seed Promotion Council, addressed the gathering. Dr P K Rai, Director of ICAR-DRMR, spotlighted the new potential expansion areas for mustard cultivation in states such as Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Assam.
Dr. Suresh Motwani, General Manager at Solidaridad, presented an overview of the SEA-Solidaridad Mustard Model Farms, highlighting their achievements and potential impacts. The project represents a significant step towards enhancing India's agricultural productivity and reducing dependency on oilseed imports.
