Ahmedabad, March 21st (Commodities Control): Peanut prices in Ahmedabad held stable today as sales and demand weakened. Arrivals of peanuts from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, with some entering the Gujarat market, have begun.
The Gondal market reported an arrival of 10,502 bags (35 kg each). Average-quality peanuts traded between 1201-1266 rupees per 20 kg, while top-quality peanuts fetched 1221-1336 rupees. Traders anticipate arrivals will continue in Gondal until Saturday, with a week of market closure to follow. In Rajkot, arrivals have stopped for the end of March and will resume in April.
North Gujarat centers are currently experiencing no arrivals. Sowing in the Banaskantha region is largely completed, with a few centers expecting completion by the first week of April. Overall, summer sowing in the state stands at 80% completion.
As broader vegetable oil prices recover following a recent decline, groundnut oil prices are expected to improve, offering near-term support for groundnuts.
