Mumbai, 23 Feb (Commoditiescontrol):Demand for crushing-quality peanuts in Ahmedabad led to a price jump of 10-15 rupees per 20 kilograms today. Meanwhile, the Gulf Food Fair in Dubai kept the prices of higher-quality (Dana Bar) peanuts steady. However, rising temperatures in peanut-growing regions threaten to spoil stored peanuts held at farms. This could trigger increased selling in the coming days, potentially leading to subsequent price drops.
Loose peanut oil is trading around 1450 rupees per 10 kilograms, with mills starting to shut down due to unfavorable market conditions. Further price fluctuations are unlikely in the near term. This year's export trade has been subdued, with transactions primarily meeting immediate demand rather than reflecting a broader market trend.
Key markets saw the following arrivals and prices today: Gondal Mandi received 8000 sacks (35kg each) with average quality trading at 1196-1266 rupees/20kg and best quality at 1211-1301 rupees/20kg. Rajkot Mandi reported 6000 sacks, with average and best quality fetching 1121-1271 rupees/20kg and 1125-1318 rupees/20kg respectively. In Saurashtra, approximately 17000-18000 sacks arrived, with crushing quality peanuts priced at 1180-1320 rupees/20kg. The Himmatnagar Mandi in North Gujarat received 600 sacks, with prices ranging from 1200-1400 rupees/20kg. Meanwhile, traders in Deesa noted the start of the summer sowing season.
