Mumbai, June 24 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices have shown a slight increase for the second consecutive session, driven by bargain hunting at lower levels. This trend is supported by a significant 42% decrease in rainfall activity in major growing districts, impacting supply. However, with the monsoon season just beginning, it remains too early to predict long-term effects.
The average price per kilogram for small cardamom ranged between Rs 2,316 and Rs 2,321, marking an increase from the previous session's range of Rs 2,259 to Rs 2,311. Despite the overall rise, the highest price per kilogram dipped slightly to Rs 2,979 from Rs 3,002 in the previous session.
Market arrivals have seen a modest increase alongside the price rise, though they stayed below the 1.0 lakh kg mark. Total arrivals rose to 91,260 kg from 84,393 kg. Correspondingly, offtake improved to 88,514 kg from the prior session's 79,591 kg. The reported offtake rate of 97% indicates strong demand in the market.
Grade-specific rates have remained stable. The prices for 7 mm grades ranged between Rs 2,240 and Rs 2,320 per kg, grades between 7-8 mm fetched Rs 2,440 to Rs 2,560 per kg, and grades 8 mm and higher were priced between Rs 2,720 and Rs 2,920 per kg.
