Mumbai, June 21 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices in major markets have seen a slight uptick following a four-session decline, driven by bargain buying at lower levels despite subdued post-Eid demand. Reports indicate a 40% decrease in rainfall across key growing districts, although it is early in the monsoon season.
The average price per kilogram ranged from Rs 2,259 to Rs 2,311, slightly down from the previous session's average of Rs 2,284 to Rs 2,286. The highest price recorded was Rs 3,002 per kilogram, marking an increase from Rs 2,749 in the previous session.
Arrivals increased marginally but remained around 1.0 lakh kg, up from 84,393 kg to 95,818 kg. Offtake also rose to 92,982 kg from 79,591 kg previously, with an offtake rate climbing to 97% from 94.3%, indicating improved demand.
Grade-specific rates were reported as stable: Rs 2,240 to Rs 2,320 per kg for 7 mm grades, Rs 2,440 to Rs 2,560 for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,720 to Rs 2,920 for grades 8 mm and above.
Overall, small cardamom prices have shown resilience with a modest price recovery amidst higher arrivals and stable grade-specific rates in the market.
