Mumbai, May 8 (Commoditiescontrol) - Groundnut prices held steady today, with limited trading observed across markets. Summer groundnut arrivals are expected to increase around May 15th, while a larger Uttar Pradesh crop could begin arriving in late May or early June. Market sentiment suggests increased supply from Uttar Pradesh may put downward pressure on groundnut prices.
Export demand for Danabar quality peanuts remains weak, with substantial stocks of old peanuts still available. A resurgence in Danabar exports would provide needed market support.
Gondal Mandi reported arrivals of approximately 17,000 bags (35kg each). Average quality groundnuts traded between Rs 1241-1331 per 20kg, with premium quality fetching Rs 1251-1396 per 20kg. Crushing quality BT-32 groundnuts traded around Rs 1250 per 20kg.
Rajkot Mandi saw arrivals of 6,500 bags. Average quality prices were Rs 1160-1290 per 20kg, and best quality Rs 1120-1290 per 20kg. Total arrivals in the Saurashtra region were estimated between 25,000 and 30,000 bags.
