Mumbai, May 3 (CommoditiesControl) : India's oilseeds sowing acreage during summer season, which will end by May, increased 3.66% as of May 3rd, 2024, led by Groundnut and Sesamum.
Both groundnut at 4.7 lh and sesamum at 4.89 lh are higher than their year-ago levels of 4.63 lh and 4.61 lh, respectively. Sunflower acreage reported to have reached 34,000 hectares against 32,000 hectares year-ago.
India is about to receive above normal rainfall during the upcoming monsoon season. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a bountiful monsoon for the year. In a press briefing on April 15, the agency has forecast that the rains in June-September will be 6% more than the annual average of 87 cm during these months.
