Coriander Prices Stable in Key Markets; Exports Surged in Feb

Mumbai, April 26 (Commodities Control): The coriander market in the state witnessed limited arrivals and demand today, resulting in stable prices. Meanwhile, exporters in Rajkot reported a significant increase in coriander exports, with 6577.42 metric tons exported in February, marking an 80% rise compared to the same period last year when 3637.07 metric tons were exported.

Around 19,000 bags, each bag weighing 40 kg, of coriander arrived in the state today, with prices holding steady in the range of Rs 1390-1590 per 20 kg. Notable arrivals were observed in various mandis, including Gondal with 6,500 bags and Rajkot with 2,000 bags. At Gondal Mandi, around 15,000 bags were pending, out of which 11,770 bags were traded at Rs 1521-1851. In Rajkot Mandi, prices ranged from Rs 1350-1775.

Other mandis also reported arrivals: Halvad with 1,500 bags, Jetpur with 600 bags, Jamjodhpur with 1,700 bags, Junagadh with 1,600 bags, Amreli with 700 bags, Jamnagar with 1,000 bags, and around 2,500-2,700 bags in other mandis.

In Madhya Pradesh's Guna Mandi, coriander prices remained stable despite a decline in arrivals. Badami variety was priced at Rs 6600/6800, Scooter at Rs 7600/8200, and Eagle at Rs 6800/7200, with an arrival of 10,000 bags.

Similarly, Kumbhraj Mandi also saw a significant drop in coriander arrivals. With the ongoing wedding season, farmers and traders are holding back goods, resulting in reduced market activity. Prices for Badami were at Rs 6500/6800, Eagle at Rs 6800/7200, and Scooter at Rs 7500/8000.

Dhaniya contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 7500/quintal showing an fall of Rs -32 over previous close of Rs 7532/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7490-7570 for the day. Open interest was simillar by 0 MT to 23550 MT, while trading volume decreased by -250 to 2635 MT.

Dhaniya contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 7584/quintal showing an fall of Rs -32 over previous close of Rs 7616/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 7576-7648 for the day. Open interest was simillar by 0 MT to 4050 MT, while trading volume increased by 145 to 1980 MT.

Currently The spread between MAY and JUN contract is -84 Rs/quintal.
