Mumbai, April 22 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices in major markets sustained their upward trajectory, reaching a five-month high driven by robust demand from stockists. The ongoing surge in prices can be attributed to heightened domestic demand, coupled with increased export demand fueled by the Iran-Israel conflict, which has resulted in significant price escalations.
The average price per kilogram ranged between Rs 1,862 and 1,911, marking an increase compared to the previous session's average of Rs 1,776 to 1,784 per kg. Notably, the highest reported price surged to Rs 2,781 per kg, up from Rs 2,587 per kg in the previous session.
Arrivals witnessed a decline, totaling 95,212 kg, down from 116,207 kg reported in the previous session. Offtake also decreased to 94,412 kg from 115,451 kg in the previous session, reflecting reduced arrivals. The offtake rate stood at 99.2%, indicating robust demand prevailing in the market.
In line with bulk prices, grade-specific rates exhibited an upward trend. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged from Rs 1,660 to Rs 1,740 per kg, while grades 7-8 mm commanded prices between Rs 1,840 and Rs 1,900 per kg. Higher grades measuring 8 mm and above were priced in the range of Rs 2,100 to Rs 2,280 per kg.
