Cumin Prices Surge Amid Decreased Arrivals in Unjha Mandi

Ahmedabad, April 19 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat has witnessed a positive turn as prices have received support amid a decline in arrivals. Over the past two days, there has been an improvement of Rs 100 per 20 kg in the price of cumin, attributed to the reduced arrivals. In Unjha Mandi, the primary center for cumin arrivals in the state, around 25,000 bags have been arriving daily, compared to around 40,000 bags last week.

Traders highlight that while there isn't significant market movement currently, further declines in arrivals could potentially lead to market improvements. The decrease in cumin arrivals is being observed across all centers.

Today, around 25,000 sacks of cumin arrived in Unjha Mandi, with 15,000 bags sourced from Rajasthan and 10,000 bags from local arrivals in nearby areas. Rough cumin was priced at Rs 3750-4000 per 20 kg, while the best quality commanded prices of Rs 4300-4500 per 20 kg. Additionally, Bombay Bold cumin was priced at Rs 4500-5300 per 20 kg.

In Gondal Mandi, cumin was priced at Rs 4191-4391 per 20 kg with an arrival of 1125 bags, while in Rajkot Mandi, the price ranged from Rs 3600-4390 per 20 kg with an arrival of approximately 1500 bags.



Jeeraunjha contract for APR delivery settled at Rs 23935/quintal showing an rise of Rs 920 over previous close of Rs 23015/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 23500-23935 for the day. Open interest decreased by -105 MT to 135 MT, while trading volume decreased by -30 to 84 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 22365/quintal showing an rise of Rs 110 over previous close of Rs 22255/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 22150-22480 for the day. Open interest increased by 48 MT to 2838 MT, while trading volume decreased by -411 to 663 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 21800/quintal showing an rise of Rs 5 over previous close of Rs 21795/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 21645-21930 for the day. Open interest increased by 30 MT to 378 MT, while trading volume decreased by -75 to 156 MT.

Currently The spread between APR and MAY contract is 1570 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between MAY and JUN contract is 565 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between APR and JUN contract is 2135 Rs/quintal.
