New Delhi, April 13 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices in Lower Rajasthan continued to show downward trend for the fourth consecutive day this Saturday, due to sluggish procurement from spinning mills. Meanwhile, a notable reduction in the daily arrivals of Kapas registered.
Market sources indicate that spinning mills in the region are currently purchasing cotton strictly based on immediate needs. This cautious approach stems partly from a lack of competitive pricing in international markets, coupled with a downturn in local demand for cotton yarn.
Compounding these market trend is the summer season, as increasing temperature has made ginning mills to reduce operational capacity. Many have ceased production entirely, while others have scaled back to limited shifts. Given the current state of both demand and supply, there's little to no prospect of a significant rebound in cotton prices in the near future. Kapas prices remained stable in the state, while cottonseed prices weakened by Rs 125.
Today's Kapas arrivals in the mandis of Lower Rajasthan were notably lower, recorded at 500 bales, each weighing 170 kg, compared to 700 bales on the previous trading day.
