New Delhi, March 30 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices in the markets of North Indian states such as Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan remained stable on Saturday, attributed to limited demand from spinning mills. Moreover, the daily arrivals of Kapas in these states witnessed a decline.

Traders observed that spinning mills in these states are procuring cotton cautiously, aligning their purchases with immediate requirements due to the March closing. Consequently, prices have maintained stability. However, it's noted that most spinning mills in the region possess relatively low outstanding stock of cotton. With the onset of the consumption season, local demand for cotton yarn is expected to surge in the forthcoming days. This anticipated rise in demand may prompt mills to increase cotton purchases in April, although pricing trends will be largely influenced by global market trends. Concurrently, the prices of cottonseed and Kapas also exhibited stability in these regions.

The arrival of Kapas in the producer mandis of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan stood at 4,500 bales, each bale weighing 170 kg, compared to 5,500 bales on the previous working day.

In Punjab and Haryana, Kapas prices ranged from Rs 6,600 to Rs 7,000 per quintal, while in Upper Rajasthan, prices were recorded at Rs 6,700 to Rs 7,100 per quintal. Similarly, the price of cottonseed ranged from Rs 2,250 to Rs 2,500 per quintal in Punjab and Haryana, and Rs 2,350 to Rs 2,600 per quintal in Upper Rajasthan.

Spot delivery prices for cotton in different regions were as follows:
- Punjab: Rs 6,000 to Rs 6,050 per maund (equivalent to Rs 57,100 to Rs 57,600 per candy)
- Haryana: Rs 5,940 to Rs 6,040 per maund (equivalent to Rs 56,400 to Rs 57,400 per candy)
- Upper Rajasthan: Rs 5,450 to Rs 6,150 per maund (equivalent to Rs 51,900 to Rs 58,500 per candy)
- Pilani, Rajasthan: Rs 5,450 to Rs 6,150 per maund
- Lower Rajasthan: Rs 57,000 to Rs 59,200 per candy.
