Mumbai, 22 Mar 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Moong prices continued to trade within a limited range due to balanced supply and demand. In Delhi, prices declined marginally by Rs 50/quintal, while markets in Rajasthan saw mixed results.
The Agriculture Ministry's latest summer crop sowing report indicates a significant increase in moong acreage, up 31.07% to 4.33 lakh hectares. Odisha saw the most notable increase at 87%, with 1.7 lakh hectares planted. Tamil Nadu also reported a 2.7% increase in moong planting, reaching 0.8 lakh hectares.
Moong prices are expected to remain steady in the near term, supported by consistent consumption demand and demand for seeds for the summer crop. However, the arrival of the Rabi crop in Odisha and Tamil Nadu may create a ceiling on potential price increases.
