Decline in Coriander Arrival Due to March Ending; Prices Remain Stable

Ahmedabad, March 22 (CommoditiesControl): Today witnessed a notable decrease in the arrival of coriander in Gujarat, with prices remaining stable amidst the ongoing market conditions. Traders attribute this decline to the approaching end of March, which has led to a slowdown in market activities, particularly in Rajkot and Jamnagar markets, which have ceased operations until April. As a result, many mandis are dealing with pending goods due to the excess arrival of coriander, contributing to the lowest arrival of the season recorded in the state today.

Around 16,000 bags, each weighing 40 kg, of coriander arrived in Gujarat today, with the commodity trading at an average price range of Rs 1380-1880.

Traders anticipate arrivals in nearly all mandis of Saurashtra-Gujarat, including Gondal, by tomorrow. However, with mandis set to close for a week starting Monday due to March ending, market dynamics will heavily depend on sales in April.

In Gondal Mandi, out of about 72,000 pending bags, 20,000-22,000 bags were traded at Rs 1626-2151 per 20 kg. Additionally, trade activity was reported in other mandis, including 2000 sacks in Halvad, 300 sacks in Dhangadhra, 1300 sacks in Jetpur, 850 sacks in Junagadh, 3000 sacks in Amreli, and 6,000-8,000 sacks in surrounding areas. In Jamjodhpur mandi, trade took place out of 5000 pending bags.

Meanwhile, in Guna Mandi of Madhya Pradesh, there was a Rs 100 increase in coriander prices. Badmi was priced at 6500-6800 (+100), Scooter at 7600/8300 (+100), and Eagle at 6900/7600 (+100), with an incoming supply of 12,000 bags.

In Kumbhraj Mandi of the state, auctions commenced late today, leading to a Rs 100 uptick in market prices. Badami was priced at 6700/6900 (+100), Eagle at 6900/7300 (+100), and Scooter at 7700/8300 (+100), with an arrival of 15,000 bags.
