Mumbai, March 19 (Commoditiescontrol): Prices for small cardamom in major markets experienced a slight decrease, attributed to weakened export and domestic demand. The market update indicates that export demand has dwindled, with Ramadan demand already fulfilled, exerting downward pressure on prices.
The average price per kilogram slipped from Rs. 1,420-1,432 in the previous session to Rs. 1,388-1,444 in the current session. Similarly, the maximum price per kilogram declined from Rs. 1,964 to Rs. 1,859. The average price remains below the Rs. 1,500 per kg mark.
Grade-specific rates remained steady following the subdued market sentiment. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged between Rs. 1,480 and Rs. 1,550 per kg, while grades 7-8 mm were priced at Rs. 1,600 to Rs. 1,700 per kg. Higher-grade varieties of 8 mm and above commanded prices between Rs. 1,900 and Rs. 2,000 per kg.
Arrivals dropped below 1.0 lakh kg as prices underwent a correction. Arrivals dwindled to 91,415 kg from 109,296 kg recorded in the previous session, influenced by the decline in prices. Total offtake stood at 88,040 kg, down from 105,193 kg in the preceding session, primarily due to lower arrivals. Despite the recent price dip, demand remained robust, with a daily offtake of 96.4%.
