New Delhi, March 14 (Commoditiescontrol): Mentha oil prices exhibited firmness on Thursday, supported by an uptick in buying activity at lower levels. Despite this positive momentum, domestic industrial demand remains subdued. Market analysts attribute the tepid demand for natural mentha oil to the abundance of cheaper synthetic mentha products flooding the market.
In Chandausi market, mentha oil prices edged Rs 6 higher, reaching Rs 1032-1034 per kg. Similarly, prices in the Barabanki market saw a Rs 5 increase, settling at Rs 1000 per kg.
At the MCX, the benchmark contract for Mentha oil delivery in March observed a rise of Rs 4.20, trading at Rs 940.3 per kg. The contract recorded an open interest of 538 and a volume of 56.
