Mumbai 16-February, (Commoditiescontrol) –Analysts have updated their forecast for Russia's 2024/25 wheat crop, predicting a significant increase due to consistently favorable weather conditions. The latest estimates suggest a yield of 93.6 million metric tons (mt), surpassing last year's 92.8 million mt and approaching the record 105 million mt harvested in 2022.
The 2024 winter wheat harvest is projected at 67.7 million mt, an increase from 63.8 million mt in 2023. However, the spring wheat harvest is expected to decline slightly to 25.9 million mt, down from 28.9 million mt the previous year.
Recent months have seen above-average winter crop conditions, attributed to ongoing favorable weather. Forecasts indicate continued mild temperatures in key winter crop-growing regions, enhancing prospects for the upcoming harvest. Analysts remain optimistic, stating that barring any unexpected temperature spikes or severe frosts, Russia's grain harvest outlook appears promising.
