Mumbai, February 14 (CommoditiesControl): Cardamom prices in major markets have experienced a notable downturn, shedding Rs 50-60 per kilogram as a result of weakened demand. Over the past 7-8 sessions, prices have been oscillating within the broader range of Rs 1,450-1,550, reflecting the impact of shifting market trends. While domestic demand remains robust, export demand has reportedly faltered, exerting downward pressure on cardamom prices.
In comparison to the previous session, the average price per kilogram has witnessed a notable decline, dropping from Rs 1,539-1,540 to Rs 1,490-1,495. The maximum per kilogram price decline noted from Rs 2,095 to Rs 1,969 per kg. Prices declined again below Rs 1,500 per kg, after remaining higher for the previous 2-3 sessions.
According to reports, grade-specific rates have remained stable. Prices for 7 mm grades range between Rs 1,550 and Rs 1,600 per kg; Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,780 per kg for grades 7-8 mm; and Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,100 per kg for grades 8 mm and above.
Arrivals totaled 86,464 kg, up slightly from 86,266 kg in the previous session. The total offtake was 83,624 kg, a decrease from the previous session's 85,840 kg figure. Due to lower demand, the daily offtake rate was reported at 96.3%, down from 99.1% the previous session.
