Wheat Procurement Target for Rabi Marketing Season 2021-22 Set at 42.73 Mn T, Up 9.56%

Mumbai (Commodities Control) - The Centre has fixed a target to purchase 42.73 million tonnes of wheat in the coming crop marketing season 2021-22, which is 9.56 percent more than the actual purchase of the previous year.

Procurement from Punjab, which is the hotbed of agitation, is expected to be around 13 million tonnes, slightly more than the actual procurement of this year, while that from Madhya Pradesh is expected to be the highest at 13.5 million tonnes. For Haryana, the procurement target of 8 million tonnes has been set, while it is 5.5 million tonnes for Uttar Pradesh and 2.2 million tonnes for Rajasthan.

Similarly, total of 11.97 million tonnes has been set for procurement of Rabi rice, up 24.43% at 9.62 million tonnes last year.
The minimum support price (MSP) for Rabi Marketing season 2021-22 for wheat has been set at Rs 1,975/Quintal vs Rs 1,925/Quintal last Rabi season.
