NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Sharp down fall continues in Wheat prices in Rajasthan mandis. Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh mandis also witnessed heavy fall in absence of demand. Wheat prices turned bearish in across the region after decline in exporters’ buying. However, better demand led to slight gain in Delhi mandis.

Rajasthan mandis like Kota, Bundi and Baran continued to record losses in wheat prices on first day of current week. The arrival remained and selling remained higher than demand because exporters have reduced buying to almost zero. They was not interested for fresh buying due to poor quality of left over stock with farmers and stockists.

Bundi based trader Mr. Uttam Jethwani said that current bearish trend was expected to continue till the end of his week. However, the prices may not see such sharp fall. The prices may see little more fall in Rajasthan mandis. Wheat prices fell down up to Rs. 50 per quintal in various mandis of Rajasthan due to poor demand. Mr. Jethwani told that buyers including flour millers also backtracked in hope of more fall so wheat has registered sharp fall today. But lower prices will attract buyers so the prices are likely to stabilize soon. The prices may seed further fall of Rs. 20-30 per quintal in next few days. It will bottomed out by the end of this week.

Mandis of UP and MP including Indore, Bhopal, Kanpur and Bareilly also recorded losses. Wheat has lost Rs. 50 per quintal in Kanpur and Indore. Bhopal and Bareilly have seen limited losses in wheat prices. Mr. Anil Gupta from Kanpur told that the prices slipped as exporters have stopped wheat buying in Kanpur. The prices will stabilize when local demand, specifically flour millers’ buying will pick up.

Today, Delhi market was only gainer in wheat trade. Wheat prices gained Rs. 10 per quintal to Rs. 1950-1960 per quintal. total arrival was estimated at around 8000 bags. Delhi mandis have received arrival of 8000 bags. Around 6000 bags arrival from government’s warehouses in Haryana under Open market Sale scheme (OMSS).
