NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Wheat prices lost Rs. 50 per quintal in Delhi as market sentiments dampen with speculations. The prices slipped by Rs 35 per quintal in other markets. Bearish mood was witnessed across the markets in absence of any positive indications. There has been a speculation that the government may consider to reduce wheat prices under Open market sale scheme (OMSS).

Wheat prices fell from Rs. 1820-1830 to Rs. 1780-1790 per quintal in Delhi market. The food grain lost Rs. 50 per quintal because of selling pressure from stockists, traders and farmers.

Although, wheat prices fell down in many markets the down fall was not so severe as it was noticed only in Delhi. Mill quality wheat slipped Rs. 10 to Rs. 35 per quintal in Kota, Bundi, Baran, Rajkot and Bareilly. Bearish trend prevailed in all the markets, except Bhopal as the effective date for lower mandi tax rate (0.50 percent) has been recently announced. It was pending for over one month.
