Rice Prices Remain Steady In Punjab, Haryana Due To Weak Demand

NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Heavy arrival of paddy, lower demand from retail market and silence in export trade kept rice with muted tone. The millers were not keen to reduce rice prices further as the prices already reduced. There was no significant movement in rice prices in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

A trader told that market was still in wait and watch mode. Rice exporters felt that foreign demand will pick up after November. They do not want to stock rice because they expect steady trend will continue at least for one-two month. Festival buying supported rice demand slightly. But it could not push up prices. Steady trend continued in premium and common rice in all the major markets.
