Government Issues 23 Lakh Tonnes Sugar Quota For October 2020

NEW DELHI (Commodities control) The central government has fixed sugar quota of 23 lakh tonnes for next month October. Higher quota is release for coming month as demand may increase in festival season.


Festivals will begin in second half of October and will continue till first half of next month. The government had release sugar quota of 21 lakh tons for October 2019. Last month, a quota of 22 lakh tonnes was released for current month September 2020.



The spot market was worried in the anticipation higher quota for October 2020. Weaker demand caused for price fall. Sugar prices fell down up to Rs. 60 per quintal. The prices may come down further due to larger quota.
