NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Sharp price fall in wheat prices has become frequent happening of markets. Again, it was clear reason for weakening demand which weighed wheat prices. It was likely that wheat consumption will fell down because coarse cereals of Kharif season may provide cheaper and good alternate of wheat. The prices fell down by up to Rs. 50 per quintal in mandis of Rajasthan, UP and MP.

In Kota mandi of Rajasthan, wheat mill quality slipped Rs. 35 and 4037 Sharbati wheat down by Rs. 50 per quintal. Wheat fell down by Rs. 20-50 pe quintal in Rajasthan mandis. The prices fell down by Rs. 50 to Rs. 1525-1550 per quintal in Indore mandi of Madhya Pradesh. Wheat lost Rs. 20 per quintal in Kanpur and Bareilly.

According to the traders, wheat prices were not getting support from consumer industries. Heavy supply and weaker demand caused for the price fall. It was not first big price fall. Wheat have seen numerous price in last one month. Trading sources told that supply of coarse cereals like Bajra, Maize and jowar will start in next months. Consumers prefer these grains for food. Cheaper prices also encourage consumption of these grain. Therefore, wheat demand may fall further.
