Cotton Prices Firm in South India with Reopening of Warangal Mandi

Mumbai (commodities control) - Cotton prices were quoted higher Rs 200-300 in South Indian markets due to firmness in global markets and improved mill demand. Some action was witnessed in Warangal and other mandis of Telangana.

Karnataka reported arrivals of 500 bales of cotton, while arrivals of 400 bales were registered in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana mandi. Kapas was quoted at Rs 3600-4400. Cotton seed was quoted at Rs 2400 - 2500 and cocud was priced at Rs 2200-2300.

30mm cotton in Karnataka was quoted at Rs 35,300-35,500 and 29 mm was priced at Rs 35,000-35,200 per candy. DCH was quoted at Rs 54,300-55,300 per candy.

29 mm cotton in Bhainsa mandi of Telangana was quoted at Rs 34,000-34,500 and 29.5+mm cotton was priced at Rs 34,500-35,000 per candy. 29+mm cotton in Warangal was quoted at Rs 34,400-34,600 and 30 mm was priced at Rs 35,500-36,000 per candy.

Traders confirm that markets are supported due to trade in Telangana mandis. Previously most of the mandis were reporting private deals only. Volume is expected to rise in the coming days.

According to the CCI's new discount scheme 27-30 mm cotton in Adilabad was quoted at Rs 35,700-37,200 per candy and 28-30 mm in Warangal was priced at Rs 36,100-37,200 per candy. In Hubli of Karnataka, CCI has quoted 28-30mm cotton at Rs 35,700-37,200 per candy.
