Cotton Prices Rise in North India

Mumbai (commodities control) - Cotton prices moved Rs 10/maund higher after steady trade in previous session.

Punjab, Haryana and Upper Rajasthan registered arrivals at 200 bales of cotton. Kapas prices in the region were quoted at Rs 4700-4900. cottonseed was priced at Rs 2750-2800. Cottonseed oil cake prices were priced at 2300-2450/quintal. 28+mm cotton in Punjab was quoted at Rs 3540-3570, while in Haryana 28mm was priced at Rs 3540-3550/maund. In Upper Rajasthan, the fibre was quoted at Rs 3430-3550/maund. 28+ mm in Ravatsar was quoted at Rs 3500 and in Hanumangarh mandi was priced at Rs 3550. 28mm in Vijay Nagar was priced at Rs 3510 and in Shri Ganga Nagar the variety traded at Rs 3480, while 27.5-28 mm in Peelibanga was quoted at Rs 3500 and 27.5 mm in Anupgarh was priced at Rs 3470/maund. Traders reveal that prices were supported due to scattered buying by millers. Overseas cotton has additionally supported domestic cotton prices. ICE cotton went past 3% and has upped over 2% on weekly basis.
