MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot turmeric prices moved lower by Rs 100-200 per quintal at the major Nizamabad market in Telangana on Friday with the arrival of new crop.

A total of 12,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg) of spice arrived at the Nizamabad market, while the Erode market received 3,200 bags of spice.

According to traders, there are no buyers at high prices. While, the arrival of new turmeric in the mandis is gradually increasing. It is believed that with the rise in arrivals, pressure on prices may increase after Holi.

Turmeric production in the country is estimated to be 20 percent higher this year.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), turmeric for delivery in March ended higher by Rs 10 or 0.17 percent to Rs 5,850 per quintal after moving in the range of Rs 5,882 and Rs 5,810 per quintal.
