NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot mentha oil prices fell further at key markets of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday due to tepid demand from pharmaceutical and consuming industries.

Expectation of higher acreage also weighed on prices. At present, sowing of mint roots in nurseries is going on, and ideal time for the same is January 15 to February 15. Transplantation would start by February end.

Mentha oil prices in Chandausi, Sambhal and Rampur quoted at Rs 1,265/kg, Rs 1,285/kg and Rs 1,260/kg, respectively.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), mentha oil contract for delivery in February ended lower by Rs 11.40 or 0.98 percent at Rs 1,151.20 per kg.
