MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot coriander/dhania prices ruled weak at major Guna, Baran and Rajkot markets on Friday because of subdued demand and amid better crop prospects.

According to traders, the sowing has been good in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, which has boosted the new crop estimates. While the carry over stock is likely to be only half of last year as the crop fell over 20 percent to 567,000 tonnes in 2019.

Total area sown under coriander in Gujarat, was at 82,292 hectares as on January 20 in the current 2019-20 rabi season as against 29,630 hectares in the same period last year, as per the state agriculture department's data.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), coriander for delivery in April ended lower by Rs 33 or 0.49 percent at 6,680 per quintal after moving in the range of Rs 6,783 and Rs 6,600 per quintal.
