Govt Allocates Additional 2.5 Lakh Tonnes Of Urad Import Quota Among Millers

NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) - The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on Monday allocated additional 2.5 lakh tonnes of urad import quota for FY 2019-20.

"The quota has been allocated equally among 1,794 eligible applicants (139 MT each). However, as 13 applicants have applied for quantity less than 139 MT and 3 applicants have production capacity less than 139 MT, accordingly, these applicants were allotted their due 1,553 MT. Thereafter, the DGFT decided to distribute 2,48,447 MT among the rest, 1,778 applicants," DGFT said.

The DGFT also decided that the eligible quota issued will be with the condition that imported urad should arrive/land on Indian port latest by March 31, 2020.

The DGFT had earlier on December 12 had increased the import quota of urad from 1.5 lakh tonnes to 4 lakh tonnes. Based on the same, DGFT had invited applications from millers/refiners for import of urad. The last date of filing was 31 December 2019.
