Cotton Prices Jump By Rs 300 Per Candy In Lower Rajasthan

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton prices gained by Rs 300 per candy at major markets in lower Rajasthan on Saturday following an uptrend in global market and on increased demand against lower arrivals.

Arrivals today stood at 6,000 bales, down 500 bales from 6,500 bales on Friday.

According to traders, mills have become active in the market in anticipation of further price rise. At the same time, there is no selling in the market at lower levels.

Domestic market also gained momentum today as cotton prices jumped nearly 2 percent in the global market yesterday due to expectations of agreement between the US and China. Besides, procurement from Cotton Corporation of India is also going on.

The price of 28-29.5MM cotton in Marwar offered at Rs 37,100-38,800/candy. 27-28MM in Mewar also ruled at Rs 37,100-38,800/candy. While the price of 29-29.5MM in Alwar was at Rs 38,100-38,800/maund.

Kapas here traded at Rs 4,800-5,500 per quintal, while cotton seed quoted at Rs 2,500-2,600/quintal.
