MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton prices ruled steady at major markets in Maharashtra and Gujarat on Saturday amid average trade.
According to traders, buying from the CCI mainly helped market remain unchanged. However, the moisture in the new crop is very high. Some areas of Gujarat have also received sporadic rains in the last 24 hours.
In Madhya Pradesh, prices were firm as the quality of most of the crop coming to the mandis is very poor. Therefore, the price of good quality cotton is being quoted high.
Arrivals today stood at 41,000 bales in Gujarat, 21,000 bales in Maharashtra, 5,500 bales in Madhya Pradesh, 14,000 bales in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and 7,000 bales in Karnataka.
