NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton planting reached 111.56 lakh ha as of July 27 compared to same period last year at 92.33 lakh ha according to Ministry of Agriculture.
Cotton planting has progressed 91 percent of the total normal area at 122.46 lakh ha and remained significantly ahead 10 percent from the normal area as on date at 101.55 lakh ha showing signs of positivity in planting.
Reports from the field suggest that crop conditions were rated superior in North India with expectation of bumper crop for the 2017/18 season.
Concerns loomed over Gujarat due to flood like situation however the magnitude of damage remained uncertain until final assessment is released after the water recedes from the sowing fields. Speculations of 30 percent crop damage is tilting the market to a bullish sentiment. However, we do not recommend to jump the speculation bull bandwagon. (Full Report)
