Mumbai, March 28 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices experienced a notable recovery in major markets, driven by robust demand at lower price levels and a decrease in arrivals. Today, only one center was auctioned, with arrivals totaling 42,897 kg, all of which were offtaken.
The average price per kilogram surged from Rs 1,393-1,429 in the previous session to Rs 1,518, marking a significant increase. While the maximum price per kilogram dipped slightly from Rs 1,997 to Rs 1,946, the average prices managed to surpass the Rs 1,500 threshold after trading below it for two or three sessions.
Reports suggest that grade-specific rates remain stable, with prices ranging from Rs 1,560 to Rs 1,650 per kg for 7 mm grades, Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,740 per kg for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,140 per kg for grades 8 mm and above.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce released EXIM data for January, indicating a 73% reduction in imports primarily due to a significant decrease in imports from Nepal, which stood at 448 MT. However, exports saw a notable uptick, rising by 27% and totaling 1,001 MT.
