New Delhi, April 16 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices remained stable for the second consecutive day on Tuesday in the mandis of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to limited demand from spinning mills, while its daily arrivals in these states stopped.

According to traders, the spinning mills of these states are purchasing cotton only as per the requirement, due to which the prices remained stable for the second consecutive day. According to experts, the cotton prices in these states did not weaken in proportion to the decline in cotton prices in the foreign market last week. In these states, farmers have less outstanding stock of Kapas, while stockists do not want to sell at reduced prices. In such a situation, there is little chance of a major fall in the current prices of cotton.

There was a declining trend in cotton prices in the domestic futures market today. Kapas prices in April-24 futures contract on NCDEX weakened by Rs 3 to Rs 1,484 per 20 kg.

Today the daily arrival of Kapas in the mandis of Andhra Pradesh was 2,500 bales while in Telangana the arrival was 600 bales. On the previous trading day, the arrival of cotton in these states remained the same.
