Ahmedabad, May 11 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat experienced a notable uptick in the spot market, propelled by movements in the futures market. Today witnessed a significant rise of Rs 50 per 20 kg in cumin prices across the state.

Traders attribute this surge to heightened activity among speculators in the futures market, particularly on Friday, which translated into improved spot market conditions.

Despite the bullish sentiment, traders remain cautious due to the ample stock of cumin this year, tempering expectations of a substantial price escalation.

In Unjha Mandi, a major trading hub, approximately 28,000 sacks of cumin were recorded today. Rough cumin was priced at Rs 4,200-4,500 per 20 kg, while the best quality commanded prices ranging from Rs 4,900-5,300 per 20 kg. Bombay bold, a premium variety, traded between Rs 5,300-6,000 per 20 kg. The state saw a total arrival of around 55,000 bags of cumin.

In Gondal Mandi, where approximately 1,000 bags were received, prices ranged from Rs 5,211-5,401 per 20 kg. Meanwhile, Rajkot Mandi recorded an arrival of around 1,800 bags, with prices ranging from Rs 4,400-5,336 per 20 kg.
