Mumbai, May 14 (Commodities Control): Domestic pepper prices have experienced a decline from their recent highs, primarily attributed to lower demand at elevated price levels, resulting in a drop of Rs 400 per quintal. Despite this, a significant downturn is unlikely due to weaker global production, except in India, where production is anticipated to remain high. Additionally, the resurgence of Vietnamese prices today may help limit the decline in domestic markets.
In Cochin, garbled pepper prices remain stable at Rs 59,400 per quintal, while ungarbled pepper is priced at Rs 57,400 per quintal. Pepper prices in Karnataka range from Rs 57,500 to Rs 59,500 per quintal.
Vietnamese pepper prices have rebounded by VND 1,000-2,000 per kilogram after a recent dip, with prices ranging from VND 102,000 to 103,000 per kilogram. Reports suggest that Vietnamese prices are up 65% year-on-year, trading at near-record levels. Global FOB prices have remained stable across all centers.
