Mumbai, May 6 (CommoditiesControl): Chilli prices exhibited mixed trends across major markets, with variations observed particularly in Guntur. While Teja prices surged in Guntur, they witnessed a decline in Khammam and Warangal markets. The downturn in Teja prices in Khammam and Warangal, ranging from Rs 600-1,000 per quintal, was attributed to sluggish demand and near-full cold storage facilities, exerting downward pressure on prices. Ground reports indicate that warehouses are nearing full capacity, adding to the bearish sentiment in the market.
Arrivals at the Guntur markets remained steady at 65,000 bags, consistent with the previous session. In contrast, Warangal reported an increase in arrivals to 20,000 bags, up by 5,000 bags from the previous session, while Khammam reported arrivals of 8,000 bags.
Weak domestic demand, coupled with subdued export demand, has contributed to the downward trajectory of prices. However, prices are anticipated to find support in upcoming sessions, given that they are currently trading at multi-year lows.
