Ahmedabad, May 4 (CommoditiesControl): Following a sustained upward trend in the cumin market, prices witnessed a decline of Rs 150-175 per 20 kg on Tuesday due to increased selling pressure. The surge in arrivals exerted downward pressure on prices in the spot market.
With Sunday being a holiday and the mandis set to operate only on Monday, followed by closure on Tuesday due to elections across Gujarat, market trends are likely to depend on the arrival of cumin on Wednesday.
Traders reported a significant arrival of around 30,000 bags of cumin in Unjha Mandi today. Prices for rough cumin quoted at Rs 3,800-4,100 per 20 kg, while the best quality commanded prices ranging from Rs 4,600 to Rs 4,850 per 20 kg. Additionally, Bombay bold cumin prices quoted between Rs 4,800 and Rs 5,600 per 20 kg. The state witnessed a total arrival of about 47,000 bags of cumin.
In Gondal Mandi, prices ranged from Rs 4,751 to Rs 4,861 per 20 kg against an arrival of 1,170 bags. Similarly, in Rajkot Mandi, where around 2,000 bags arrived, prices fluctuated between Rs 4,100 and Rs 4,900.
