New Delhi, May 25 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices remained stable in Maharashtra on Saturday due to limited demand from spinning mills, while a decline in daily arrivals of Kapas recorded in the state mandis.
Traders noted that cotton prices had been on an upward trend in the state for the past three days. However, a mixed trend in global market prices on Friday led to more cautious purchasing by the state's spinning mills. Experts suggest that a significant amount of Kapas stock remains in the state, and arrivals are expected to continue until the end of June.
Currently, most of the cotton arriving in the markets is of light quality. An increase in cotton prices in the domestic market is likely only if local demand for yarn picks up. Alongside Kapas, cottonseed prices have also stabilized in the state.
Today, the arrival of Kapas in Maharashtra's producer markets was recorded at 15,000 bales, down from 17,000 bales on the previous trading day.
