Mumbai, 2 May (Commoditiescontrol): Argentine grains exporter revenue aggregated to $1.91 billion in April, a year-on-year down 21.5%, the CIARA-CEC chamber of oilseed producers and grains exporters said on Thursday.
CIARA-CEC said the April figures reflect "the new foreign-exchange regime for exports in place since December 2023, meager international prices and the impact of the weather on the pace of the corn and soybean harvest."
Exports were also negatively impacted by a strike by an oilseed workers' union in the final two days of the month, the chamber said.
Argentina is one of the world's top two exporters of processed soy oil and meal, the No. 3 for corn, and a major producer of wheat.
In 2024 so far, according to CIARA-CEC, revenues have risen 23% on a yearly basis.
