Mumbai, 20 May 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Imported matar prices remained unchanged in the Kolkata market, while the Mumbai market was closed for general parliamentary elections. In Uttar Pradesh, all major mandis were closed for elections. Prices experienced a marginal decrease in bilty trade in Kanpur due to a decline in demand following recent price increases.

Despite ample supply of matar in the domestic market, prices have held steady due to firm chana and Tur prices . However, the upcoming crop in Russia and Canada, expected to be available by September or October, is expected to limit the upside potential for matar prices. Stockists and importers are likely to liquidate their existing stock before the arrival of new crop in Canada and Russia, ensuring a well-supplied domestic market.
