Mumbai, 30 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Matar (pea) prices exhibited mixed trends today. Imported matar prices saw a marginal decline in the Mumbai market attributed to ample supply of imported matar and government vigilance aimed at price control, compelling stockists to liquidate their inventory.
Prices for desi (domestic) matar remained largely steady in most domestic mandis, with declining arrivals attributed to the ongoing wedding season. However, Kanpur market registered a decline in desi matar prices, mirroring the trend observed in imported matar.
Market analysts predict that matar prices will likely remain within their current range in the coming days. While prices have experienced a notable drop since the beginning of the season due to domestic crop arrivals and imports, the downside risk remains limited. The ample supply of imported matar is poised to deter significant price increases.
