Chana Prices Ease After Friday Surge; Increased Supply and Muted Demand

Mumbai, 15 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chana prices experienced a correction today after a sharp increase on Friday. The upswing was attributed to limited market activity during the Holi festival on March 25th. Now, with mandis resuming normal operations, there has been a surge in arrivals. Additionally, the conclusion of Ramadan has reduced demand for chana.

Market analysts anticipate continued downward pressure on chana prices. Rajasthan, a significant supplier, will soon see the arrival of its new crop, further increasing supply. Cautious market participation due to the possibility of government intervention is expected to dampen demand, likely weighing on prices. Furthermore, processor demand is reportedly lackluster, a reflection of the expected decrease in dal demand stemming from a shorter wedding season.
