New Delhi, March 7 (Commoditiescontrol) Mentha oil prices experienced a significant increase in both the physical market and futures trading on Thursday. This surge is attributed to robust buying activity and dwindling stockpiles. Trade analysts believe the limited supply and predictions of reduced acreage during the current sowing season are driving the price hike.
While sowing has commenced in parts of Uttar Pradesh, the pace is reportedly slow. Market sources indicate that sowing activity will likely accelerate once potato harvesting is complete.
In Chandausi, mentha oil prices climbed by Rs 10, reaching Rs 1032-1034 per kg. Similarly, Barabanki saw a Rs 10 increase, with prices hitting Rs 1005 per kg.
Mentha Oil contract for MAR delivery settled at Rs 949.9/quintal showing an rise of Rs 16.4 over previous close of Rs 933.5/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 929.9-954.8 for the day. Open interest increased by 14 MT to 626 MT, while trading volume increased by 87 to 205 MT.
