Mumbai, May 14 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices have mostly remained stable in major markets, supported by robust demand in the spot market, particularly from exports.
The average price for small cardamom was reported between Rs 2,029 and Rs 2,064 per kilogram, indicating stability compared to the previous session. Notably, the highest reported price per kilogram surged to Rs 2,845, a significant increase from the previous session's Rs 2,575.
Despite the stability in prices, arrivals continued to remain higher, with a reported quantity of 103,090 kilograms compared to 102,607 kilograms in the previous session. However, the offtake, or the rate at which goods are sold from the market, saw a decline to 99,254 kilograms from 101,064 kilograms in the previous session. This decline is attributed to the increased arrivals. However, the offtake rate dropped to 96.3% from 98.5% in the previous session.
Grade-specific rates remained steady, with prices ranging from Rs 1,780 to Rs 1,840 per kilogram for 7 mm grades, Rs 1,960 to Rs 2,040 per kilogram for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,360 per kilogram for grades 8 mm and higher.
Overall, stable prices amidst higher arrivals and strong demand indicate a balanced market for small cardamom, with prices maintaining a steady trend across various grade categories.
