Mumbai, May 7 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices in major trading hubs have displayed a mixed pattern despite a decrease in arrivals. Strong demand, fueled by price adjustments, has exerted upward pressure on prices, while increased arrivals have concurrently contributed to a price decline.

The average price per kilogram varied across different centers, with reports indicating both increases and decreases compared to the previous session. Prices ranged between Rs 1,911 and Rs 2,011 per kilogram, reflecting a slight deviation from the previous session's range of Rs 1,936 to Rs 1,948 per kilogram. The highest reported price per kilogram stood at Rs 2,677, registering a marginal decrease from Rs 2,686 recorded in the previous session.

Arrivals in the market totaled 84,386 kilograms, marking a decline from the 105,740 kilograms reported in the previous session. Offtake, on the other hand, amounted to 82,496 kilograms, down from 96,600 kilograms recorded previously, primarily attributed to the lower arrivals. Despite the decline in arrivals, the offtake rate surged to 97.8%, up from 91.4% in the previous session. This unexpected surge in arrivals has consequently intensified pressure on demand.

Grade-specific rates have largely remained stable, with prices for 7 mm grades ranging from Rs 1,740 to Rs 1,820 per kilogram, Rs 1,920 to Rs 2,000 per kilogram for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,360 per kilogram for grades 8 mm and above.
