Mumbai, 17 May 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): New moong prices in Madhya Pradesh's major markets have risen as anticipated due to strong demand. Initially, prices dropped sharply because of higher moisture content, but they are now gradually recovering as quality improves.
Today, summer new moong prices increased by Rs 100, reaching Rs 8,400 to Rs 8,500 per quintal. Average quality moong remained stable at Rs 7,000 to Rs 7,500 per quintal. On Friday, Indore's agricultural market saw moong arrivals rise by 175 quintals, totaling 300 quintals, with prices ranging from Rs 6,400 to Rs 8,300 per quintal.
The increase in raw material prices has also impacted moong dal, which has risen by Rs 100. Local sources indicate that high demand from dal manufacturers and end users is expected due to the excellent quality of this season's summer crop.
In Rajasthan, prices have remained mostly stable, trading within a narrow range over the past month .
Looking ahead, prices are expected to continue rising due to increased demand and limited supply. Additionally, seed demand during the Kharif sowing season is expected to support prices.
