Ahmedabad, May 25 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat experienced a softening trend today, with prices declining by Rs 100-150 per 20 kg due to selling pressure from farmers.
The recent improvement in cumin seed prices prompted farmers to offload their stock, resulting in increased selling activity in the market. Traders note that farmers have significant quantities of cumin seeds in their possession, leading to selling pressure whenever prices show even a slight increase.
In Unjha Mandi, around 27,000 sacks of cumin seeds arrived today. Rough cumin was priced at Rs 5000-5300 per 20 kg, while the best quality commanded prices of Rs 5700-5900 per 20 kg. Bombay Bold variety was quoted at Rs 6000-6500 per 20 kg. Overall, around 45,000 bags of cumin reported to have arrived in the state.
In Gondal Mandi, prices ranged from Rs 5871-6001 per 20 kg against the arrival of 1444 bags. Meanwhile, in Rajkot Mandi, approximately 1500 bags arrived, with prices ranging from Rs 4700-5976 per 20 kg.
